The TQ and PQ combined for a rapelling outing on Saturday Sept 18. It was hoped that this activity would get a good response in terms of the number of boys that attended. Unfortunately, other committments this time of year prevented some of the boys from coming but 2 did come.
The Wednesday prior to the activity we had a mutual activity where Pres. Webster came and gave some excellent training about rappelling. We ended the activity by hooking up a rope to the back of a pickup and walking down some scaffolding planks to get a feel for our weight on the ropes.
Saturday morning came with a big fat snag. The plan was to go to a location Pres. Webster has used in the past up towards Lake Pleasant. Unfortunately, with the construction of the Loop 303, access to this location has been cut off. After some early phone calls to some friends of his, a suggestion was made to go down to Papago Park and find a place there. By the time we got there it was starting to get warm but we eventually found a spot that worked fairly well and we rappelled until about noon by which time it was really hot. We cooled off on the way home by getting a couple of Doughboys pizzas.
Unfortunately, we all forgot to bring cameras but Bro. Selin used his cell phone to snap a couple of photos of some large owls that were nesting near the rappelling site. They didn't come out too well but here they are.

Participants: Chris, C.J., Bro. C, Bro. S.
Special thanks go to:
Pres. Webster for sharing his expertise and abilities as the rappelling instructor
Isaac S. for coming as the CPR/First Aid person.
